Blue Ox Base Plate Kit Installation - 2002 Honda CR-V

Speaker 1: Today on our 2002 Honda CR-V, we'll be having a look at and installing the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit with Removable Arms, part number BX2232.Here's what our base plate looks like installed. What's really nice about this with the removable arms, you'll hardly know that the vehicle's been set up to be flat-towed when you don't have the arms in place. It'll still look just like a Honda CR-V in the front of it, and you won't have hardly anything sticking out. The part that sticks out the furthest is the safety cable attachment points that will go between your CR-V and your motor home. Once you have your license plate bracket fully installed, though, if you have a license plate bracket, or front license plate depending on your state, it'll be almost flushed with your license plate, so just keep that in mind. Now when we don't have our arms in place, we have some protective plugs here that we can slide in to help keep dirt and debris out of the socket where the arm goes into, that way you don't have to worry about this arm being difficult to insert. Now our arms are really easy to install. Make sure this tab here is horizontal, slide it in, push, twist, and then the retention pin, which is spring loaded, will lock it into place. more

Blue Ox Base Plate Kit Installation - 2008 Honda CR-V- Video

Blue Ox Base Plate Kit Installation - 2008 Honda CR-V

Today in our 2008 Honda CRV we'll be having a look at and installing the Blue Ox baseplate kit with removable arms, part number BX2246. Here's what our base plate looks like installed. As you can see, it fits nicely in the opening of our fascia right here, no modification required to the fascia at all and it doesn't stick out past our license plate bracket which means it's a clean, unobtrusive look on the front of our vehicle. When it's not in use, we can put these plugs in here where our removable arms go and this'll help keep any dirt and debris out from entering in there making it difficult for us to insert our arms. To each side we have our nice, easy use safety cable attachment point. Found in the middle here we have our prongs which we can use to attach any electrical brackets that we may have, such as a six pole round or a four pole flat for our towed vehicle lighting or towed vehicle braking system. We have a nice mount that's included, a mounter breakaway switch if we're using a towed vehicle braking system. You can see we already have a breakaway switch mounted, this is not included you have to provide your own or it comes with your braking system. When we want to flat tow our CRV behind our coach, we simply remove our plug, keep it, take our removable arm, make sure our tab here is horizontal, stick it in place, push and twist and then our locking pin here locks into place so it can't rotate on out. If we want to remove it, pull the pin out, twist back 90 degrees and pull straight out. It's the same on both sides. These removable arms make it easy for us to attach to any Blue Ox tow bar. more

The only thing you're going to need to cut out is a couple of the bars that drop across where our base plate lands. When it's not being used to hook our tow bar in place, we have these nice rubber covers to help keep dirt and grime out of the hole.
